SPEND SOME TIME WITH PARANORMAL AUTHOR R E MULLINS

As you all know I have been a fan of paranormal books for a long time. R E Mullins is an author who does an awesome job with her characters and keeps me hanging on for more.  I am so happy she could take time out from her writing schedule to answer some questions for me as well as her fans!

Before we talk about the third book in your series why don't you tell readers what evolved in your thought process when you were coming up with the series as a whole.

My former employers, at the medical lab I where I used to work, probably won’t appreciate knowing I came up with the idea for a romance featuring vampires while I was drawing blood samples. But that’s how it happened. Patients, thinking they were just hysterical, liked to call the phlebotomists ‘vampires’ or they’d tell us really bad vampire jokes. I used a few of these jokes in my debut novel: IT’S A WONDERFUL UNDEAD LIFE.

Was there a reason you chose two brothers and two sisters for your series?

I grew up in a four children household so the number seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Their father, Andris Blautsauger was studying for the priesthood before he was turned into a vampire and he named his children after the Angels of Prayer: Gabriel, Michael, Metatron, and Raphael. I, however, put my foot down at four he-vamps and insisted on adding a few she-vamps in the mix. A compromised was reached, two of the names got feminized, and we had Michaela and Metta.

Is there one in particular character that you wanted to write their book specifically, that you just had to get it out?

From the very first, I loved the third child and youngest daughter of the Blautsauger family—I don’t think that has anything to do with the fact I am the third child and youngest sister in my sibling line-up. Metta’s family and friends love her but no one takes her seriously. They have never taken the time to see beyond her happy-go-lucky facade. Unbeknownst to them, however, Metta is filled with secrets and hidden depths.

Getting reviews is an important part of a writer's life. What do you take away from a good review and what do you learn from a bad review?

Reviews drive a book’s success and every one of them, good or bad, is appreciated. Of course, like most I prefer to read a good review. Praise can have me walking on air for days. Thoughtfully worded criticism from a reader who has obviously read the book is also of great value. I’m still new at writing and I do take their advice to heart.

Looking back over your publishing journey so far, what is the one thing you will always remember?

I first wrote, IT’S A WONDERFUL UNDEAD LIFE in 2008. I submitted it to The Wild Rose Press and the manuscript was accepted with certain changes. At the time life had me a little overwhelmed and I sat on things. Truth be told I wasn’t sure the book was good enough—that I was good enough to be an actual writer. Almost two years later, I re-contacted The Wild Rose Press editor I’d spoken with the first time, and SHE REMEMBERED MY BOOK. To this day I’m amazed at how clearly she remembered the plot.
Then came the hard part. Like an adult teaching a child to walk, my editor held my hand through all of the re-writes. She remained positive, supportive, and upbeat. This was despite the fact I continually changed my mind and rewrote the entire manuscript so many times it took another couple of years to get it ready for print. Shall I say my editor is a saint?

Now, let's talk about your 3rd book, A Vampire To Be Reckoned with.  You went a bit of a different route with this one by tossing in some really awesome historical scenes. Was there a reason you decided to do this?

Metta’s story is a little different as she met and fell in love with another vampire back in the Restoration Period after the Civil War. The ornery minx also insisted I tell her whole story. I fell in love with researching the different eras and showing what shaped Metta’s personality.

What can readers look forward to for your 4th book?

Michaela. Ah, Michaela, she is the hardest of the siblings to write about as she has a rather prickly exterior along with a know-it-all attitude...every family has one and the Blautsaugers are no different. However, like Metta, Michaela has some hidden depths and might prove to be likeable after all.

If you could give one bit of advice to want to be authors what would it be?

Persevere and stop doubting yourself. That’s the best and only real advice I can give.

I know that once you finish the 4th book, you will have wrapped up the story of all the siblings, so what do you plan to write next?

I think I’ve one more vampire book to revisit. Called WAKING UP DEAD, I wrote it after my debut novel but it needs a complete overhaul. I may add a bit about the Blautsaugers but it will feature an entirely different cast of characters. After that I’m thinking of giving the Contemporary Romance genre a go.

And ending on a humorous note, please choose one scene from your books that you laughed when you wrote it to share with us.

Some of my favorite characters in A VAMPIRE TO BE RECKONED WITH are the four ministers that ask Metta help them take down a group of human traffickers. The whole time I was writing them, I couldn’t help but think of the Keystone Cops. In this scene the ministers are robbing the Red Cross before going to Metta’s aid.

They stood silently in front of the large refrigerated storage unit. All wore equally perplexed frowns as they regarded the packaged blood inside, neatly stowed into two rows of clearly marked storage bins. The top containers were designated A+, B+, O+, and AB+. The bottom row held their negative counterparts.

“I didn’t think about the different kinds,” Jacob whispered. “I mean, is blood, um, blood to them,” he wildly gestured, “or…do they need a certain type?”

“Isn’t O negative the universal blood donor used in transfusions?”

“I think so, but just because that’s how it works for humans doesn’t mean that’s how it works for her.” When Henry sneezed again, Dahn quietly stepped a little further to the side.

Jacob’s whole body was practically vibrating with overstretched nerves. “Dammit, we’re preachers not doctors.”

Do you think one variety tastes like apple pie and another like spinach?” Hayden felt his face heat when he realized the others had fallen silent and were looking at him in disbelief. “Just saying…”

You’ve got to be kidding,” Dahn said after a moment, “or are you really suggesting A positive blood tastes different from O negative?”

“How would I know?” Hayden scowled but was determined to stick to his guns, “For that matter, how do you know it doesn’t? Have you tried them?”

Dahn looked at a loss, “No.”

“If they have taste buds, they must use them. Do you want to hand her spinach when she needs or expects apple pie?”

“Not if you put it that way.”

“She deserves apple pie—if that’s what she likes.”
“Okay, you made your point.”

After exchanging bemused glances, their mystified gazes returned to the thick, vinyl-packed pints of blood. After a moment, Father Henry tapped the top of his wrist to indicate the time. “Take one of each?” he asked and then his eyes widened again. “Oh, Lord, we never stopped to think how much she’d need.”

“Oy vey iz mir,” Jacob muttered and dramatically threw up his hands at this new dilemma, “how should we know? How many pints of blood are in the average body?”

“I don’t remember,” Dahn’s brow furrowed as he tried to calculate, “about four to five liters?”

“Give that to me in pints,” Hayden demanded. “We’re preachers—not mathematicians,” he lobbed his own subtle jab back at Rabbi Bauer.

“Meh,” Jacob shrugged in response, but his eyes gleamed with appreciation.

“How much Dahn?”

“Are you asking me because I’m Asian?” Dahn pointedly asked right before he immediately said, “ten. Five liters is ten pints. Does that sound like enough for her? Or too much?” He slid open the large, glass door to the storage refrigerator.

“She’s a tiny thing. She might not even need that much.”

“Hopefully,” Dahn countered, “she won’t need any and this is all for nothing.”

“All this conjecture is based on human’s needs,” the priest said worriedly. “What if she’s wounded and bleeding? We might have to keep, er, filling her up.”

“Good point,” Jacob agreed, “it’s not like we can take her to the hospital.”

“Better err on the safe side then,” Hayden advised. Yet they continued to stand a moment longer eyeing the sterile containers of blood with differing looks of repugnance.

Finally, the mild Methodist swallowed and reached out to gingerly take one of the bags marked with a capital A and followed by a plus sign. “Come on,” his voice seemed to strengthen after he’d picked it up and nothing bad happened. “Since we don’t know how much she might need or which type…don’t be shy.”

That seemed to break the ice and the ministers began grabbing blood filled bags and tucking them beneath their coats. A few minutes later, four very pregnant looking gentlemen with arms protectively cupped under their swollen bellies waddled out of the Red Cross building and piled into the clearly marked Lutheran Church van.
Only to discover they had unexpected company.

Don't forget to check out the second book:

WHAT A CHANGE LESS THAN A WEEK CAN MAKE!

Good news for those who might have been horrified that I would not be able to decide on something to write. You were not alone! After a lot of praying and wondering and worrying, one of my characters opened his mouth and said, "FINISH MY STORY!"

So I am happy to say, I got my derriere into my desk chair, looked over what I had previously written, revamped a few things, and now I am pleased to say, "Hawk's Salvation" is moving along. It might not be fast, but I think fans will love the 4th installment in the "Bound By Blood, The Legends" series.

It has been a long time since I truly felt like Hawk was talking to me. When you write, you have to feel a connection to your work, your characters, and you must feel like what you are writing will appeal to readers.  I did not feel that for an extremely long stretch of time.

Now, with a new path in mind for my heroine and a peaceful feeling when I think about this book, I am so thankful that God has given me the zeal to write it.  I have felt that I let my fans and Hawk down by putting this book on the back burner. I want to give him his story of love and redemption for what happened in "Gideon's Heart" the 3rd book in the series.

So to all the winners in previous contests, where you won the prize of being one of the victims in this book, be patient a bit longer. I am truly blessed with fans who know that an author is human, and events can happen to make it hard to do what you truly want to do.

So in the meantime, read a good book, be blessed, and hugs!

HEROES AND HEROINES, WHERE ARE YOU?

Okay, those of you that know me know I seldom take time off from editing, school, and the full-time job.  Well this weekend was supposed to be my weekend, to write, and only write.  However, my awesome ladies and gentlemen, vampires and immortals and Highlanders, what-have-you have decided to go on hiatus. It is my own fault, for so long I have shushed them to leave me alone. I told them, I have to finish doing  this or that before I can get back to you, and now they are paying me back in kind. So here is hoping and praying they will let bygones be bygones!

I HAVE A QUESTION, SO LET'S CHAT, SHALL WE?

Okay, who doesn't enjoy an awesome mystery or an edge of the seat thriller? I know that I do.  I have been a fan of mysteries since my first "Nancy Drew" novel decades ago.  I remember begging my mom and dad for more books for my tenth birthday.  As I got older, I moved on to Victoria Holt and Daphne du Maurier. For a while I got out of the mystery genre and went totally to Medieval romance. Not a bad change, but when I truly want something to take me away from everyday troubles, I will go for the serial killer on the loose type of book in a Georgia second!
So, when you find an author you love who writes suspense, do you want to read about the main characters in different scenarios in different books such as Eve and Roarke in J.D. Robb's "Death Series" or would you prefer to have secondary characters from the first book to take over in subsequent books, with a different hero and heroine every time, like Karen Rose?
I actually like both ways, but I'm curious as to what you like.  You can let me know by leaving a comment and if you would tell me why you prefer which method. Also, just click on the button for the poll at the top of this page!
Hugs, God bless, and happy reading!

JUST SO YOU KNOW...

To whom it may concern: I HAVE BEEN WRITING! I am so thrilled to actually have managed to work up a schedule that works.  What I mean is I can keep to it. As many of you know authors are a split group.  Some work from home and some have outside jobs.
There are some who would say working from home is easy, that it is a piece of cake compared to a job in a outside environment. However, I have author friends who do work from home and it is hard work! Balancing a family, obligations, and housework in order to be able to write is not always easy.
I work outside the home, and I can tell you finding the time to do anything when I'm home has been hard.  But with this new schedule I can take care of my full and part time jobs and still be able to write!  Now when school starts back I will have to revise that schedule, but I am firm in my commitment to keep writing! I owe it to my fans and to myself!
This is something I have prayed about and I feel that with God's guidance it will happen! I love to write, I have been making up stories in my head since I was a small child. In the sixth grade, the librarian at my school told me I could and should be a writer. It has always been my desire to write and be published. And now I have the best of one of my dreams. I can daydream and put it on paper without feeling guilty.
So, if you have been salivating for something new from me, just be patient a bit longer.
Hugs and God's blessings on you all!

PLEASE MAKE WELCOME THE INTRIGUING AND LOVELY KYANN WATERS!

Kyann is one of the most talented and kind authors I know. She always has time for her fans! I was totally thrilled to have her come on my blog!
First, please tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Utah and have been married more than half my life, and have two sons. I hate to be idle so I have lots of hobbies.
How old were you when you first knew you wanted to write?
Young, elementary school, but what I wanted to write changes a lot over the years. At one point I wrote poetry and even had the opportunity to work on greeting cards.
You write a hot as heck erotic story, did you plan to write erotic as your primary genre?
No, in fact I wrote mainstream romance for years. It was Jan of 2006 when I first decided to publish one of the many novels I’d written. Friends and family had read them but I’d never believed the stories were good enough for publication. I went to my first small RWA chapter conference in February, met and signed with an agent in March and had my first contract in April of that same year. It wasn’t until I met an erotic romance writer, who shared with me her style, that I was tempted to the naughty side of writing.
What type of research do you have to do for this genre?
Um, well, not what some might think. I read several erotic books to find where I want to fit in with the heat scale. At the time, Ellora’s Cave was the place to be in erotic romance, so I wrote to the level that they were publishing.
If you decided to write something different, what would it be?
I don’t have any limitations now. If a story develops for me, I write it. My current works in progress are a Contemporary BDSM and a sexy mainstream Scottish Historical.
What is the most favorite of the books you have written?  Characters?
Super easy for this one. I am in love with Theron, the master vampire from my Blood Slaves books. He’s in all three books. You’ll hate him in Ice Man, begin to like him in Iron Man, and fall in love with him in Dark Man. These stories are currently unavailable. They were with a publisher but I have since had my rights to publication returned. So look for them to be coming back out late this year.
What do you have coming down the road next?
Submitting to the Cowboy’s Command will be out later this year, and hopefully the Scottish Historical will also be out later this year. I have received rights back on about a dozen books, so those are getting a new cover, a few tweaks and will be out soon!

If you could change anything about your work, what would it be?
That I would have more time for writing. It seems when the stories are running through my mind, I’m somewhere where I can’t write. And when I have the time to sit down and write, the motivation and muse aren’t with me. LoL. So I do what I can.
Do you feel like the erotic genre is here to stay?  And if so, why?
Absolutely. And I think mainstream romance and fiction are more accepting of hot sex and more edgy language in the book.
What do you read for pleasure?
Historical, New Adult, suspense. Doesn’t matter. Just give me a good book. And I love to read cookbooks.
Do you have any advice you would like to give to unpublished authors?
Writing is pleasure, publishing is work, so don’t forget why you started this writing journey. It’s about the story and feeding your author soul. Always write for yourself.
And is there anything you would like to say to your readers?
Thank you. Thank you for the wonderful emails, the reviews, and the support all these years.

PLEASE MAKE WELCOME THE FABULOUS AND TALENTED AUTHOR, GINI RIFKIN!

I have long been a fan of this talented lady who is way more braver than I am when it comes to experiencing life!  Her books take you up close and personal to places I can only imagine!

Please tell us a bit about yourself!

Hi Faith, and thank you for inviting me to your blog today. I was born and raised in Illinois, but have lived in beautiful Colorado for over forty years. I live on a little patch of land, and I take in abandoned farm animals. Currently my Noah’s Ark is shared by two ducks, a goose, two rabbits, two goats, two donkeys and three cats. Having been raised with only a hamster and a small dog, it’s been quite an amazing learning experience.
How old were you when you knew you wanted to be an author?
I think the desire was always there subconsciously, waiting to be born. I had diaries as a young girl and wrote poetry almost as soon as I knew what to do with a pencil and paper. I can’t imagine, or remember, not writing.
I noticed that the first books you have had published through The Wild Rose Press are historicals.  Has this been a genre you've always wanted to write?  And if so, why?
In Illinois, we lived near Blackhawk State Park, and I think my love for history started when my folks would take us there. Then as I grew older and began reading romance novels I went for the knights in shining armor. But I find many types of history interesting, so I guess it naturally followed I would begin my writing journey with historicals.
What type of research do you do when you write historical?
I do a lot of it, and I love it. It leads me down many interesting paths, often times offering a twist to my stories I didn’t see coming. I use the internet of course, a wonderful convenience compared to driving to the library, as we did in the old days! And I have a fairly large collection of research books on English history and the American West. My husband and I also did Mountain Man re-enacting for many years so I have hands-on experience for that era.  I was getting pretty good at the frying pan toss and the tomahawk throw.
Where do you come up with your plot lines and your characters?
Just about anything can trigger a storyline for me. The Dragon and the Rose came from a picture on a calendar, Iron Heart because I always wondered who wrote Beowulf, Lady Gallant because I was interested in Florence Nightingale and the Crimean war. And Special Delivery came about when I was asked to write a short story involving a letter. Ideas are lurking everywhere.
Do you have a favorite character from one of your books?
Well now, that’s like asking a mother who’s your favorite child, but I suppose it would be Josephine Posey from Lady Gallant. I hope I would be as brave and resourceful under the same circumstances. And as for heroes, I love them all for different reasons.
And have you ever based a character on a real life person?
My stories offer cameo appearances by William II, Florence Nightingale, Alfred the Great, and Samuel Colt, to name a few, but all main characters are fictional.  Of course, there is a bit of my husband in each hero.
You are now in the process of finalizing the last few details of a new book, that book is out of the norm for your historicals and westerns.  Care to tell us what prompted you to write a fantasy?

No one was more surprised than I. My two medieval romances have a touch of fantasy, however, and the Tarot is featured in A Cowboy’s Fate, so these elements are not unfamiliar to me. It really wasn’t as huge leap as it may seem. I believe faeries and dragons and magic must have commonly existed at some time, or I don’t think we would have all the wonderful tales, myths, and legends to which we cling to today.
Now, please tell us how you came up with the concept for your Fae Warriors series featuring " Solace" the first of a triplet of female warriors and the character analysis for Solace herself.
It all started when I purchased a statue by Nene Thomas. It features a faerie dressed in armor, carrying a spear, riding a horse, a sleek snow leopard at their feet. She looked the epitome of beauty and strength. Because she was on a horse I pictured her as six feet tall and nobody's flower faerie. Other than the color of their hair, their weapon of choice, and the type of man their looking for, the sisters are identical. I think Solace, the middle sister, is the most in-tune with modern day Earth, so I started with her.
Can your fans expect you to go back to your roots of writing historicals?
Yes, I have one western near completion, and outlines for more.
What type of advice would you give a wannabe published author?
The best advice I received was “as soon as you finish one book start the next.” I’m a learn by doing type of person, each manuscript has taught me something about the craft of writing. Read what you’d like to write, take classes whether in person, on-line, or self-taught. And most of all, believe in yourself—never let age or other people’s opinions determine your dreams.
Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
Yes, THANK YOU. Fans are a beautiful gift, much sought after and greatly appreciated. Knowing you are out there inspires me to keep writing.

EXCERPT

VIKING, GO HOME

“If ye do not quit thrashing around, woman, I will not be responsible for taking you.”
“Taking me where?”
“Thor’s hammer, I meant as a man takes a woman.”
Raven didn’t have to see the blush on her face—she could feel it. The man must think her bonkers to not know what he meant. She could only blame it on an overprotected childhood and a desire to start and keep her career moving.
Mortified beyond belief, she tried again to escape. Her hand brushed something hard against her thigh. Her gaze caught and then fell into dark silver spheres staring back at her.
Before she could open her mouth, his lips locked on hers, the covers disappeared, and a firm but gentle hand found and then slid under her gown. Her breath caught, held, and then released into his warm mouth as his fingers climbed higher. His tongue swirled deeper and taunted her until she reciprocated.
Wulf’s foray to find and tease all her trigger points made Raven burn with need. Her hips rose off the mattress when his hand found her breast.
His mouth released hers. “Easy, Raven. There is so much more I want to do to you. I do not want to hurry and your need is reaching out to me too fast and too hot.”
“Too bad, Viking. You started this, so don’t complain to me if you can’t keep up.”

SEMPER FI MAGICK

“Derek, I assume there’s a reason you ruined my song, and treated me like you were from the caveman era.”
“Why? You have to ask why?” Derek glared down at her. What was his problem?
“Are you dense as well as rude?” Cat slung back at him.
“Lady, you were this close to being booed off the stage for sounding like a scalded cat. Then you start acting like a stripper with an itch to scratch. This is a family restaurant. You can’t act that way in public.” The last of his tirade came out on a sigh. Cat looked, really looked, at his face. The lines around his eyes were deeper; he looked like he didn’t sleep enough.
Instead of the tongue-lashing she wanted to give him, she found herself reaching up and touching his face. “You need more sleep.”
As she watched, his green eyes turned darker. His previously stiff lips thinned into somewhat of a smile.
“Princess, you pull out all the stops.” He slid his arm around her and sat her on the back of the car. She liked it. This way she could look in his face without craning her neck.
“In what way?” She asked her question, curious as to what he meant by stops.
“You blow hot and then cold and then you look like a spitting cat and turn into a kitten who needs to be petted.” Derek just stared at her while she tried to figure out his words. For some reason she didn’t think he meant them derogatively. It seemed he was as confused by her as she was by him. Maybe her first estimate that he was just a snobby mortal was off base.
“I wouldn’t mind being petted by you.”

PLEASE MAKE WELCOME THE CHARMING AND TALENTED KRISTI AHLERS

Kristi and I both have worked for Romantic Times Book Reviews and now as published authors, we also have a connection. Kristi is awesome and such a wonderful and unique person. So pull up a chair, and let's see what she has to say, shall we?

Have you always wanted to be a writer? If so, why?

I’ve always wanted to be a writer. When I was younger, growing up, I’d re-write the stories endings to the books I’d read that I thought hadn’t produced the right amount of “drama.” J I was all about being caught up in the fantasy of the story and would tweak things to my satisfaction.

How do you come up with the characters you do?

To be honest they come to me fully formed and yammering at me. I’ve yet to set out and craft a character purposely. I prefer it when they come to me, their background all ready sorted and my knowing exactly who they are and why. Makes it easier to tell their story and for me makes the character seem a little more realistic.

Do you plot out your books or fly by the seat of your pants?

Up until my recent full on suspense, I was a pantser for sure. I knew how the story started, how it ended and what the big dramatic challenge would be. I’ve only recently started storyboarding and that’s been an immense help in keeping all the story elements sorted out and clear for me. I’ve also used this method for my latest project that is a three book series set pre WWI.

Has any one person influenced your writing career?

Heather Graham and Patricia Grasso and Brenda Joyce have all three influenced me in one-way or another. They have all been super supportive and Brenda even gave me a cover quote for my historical romance Gabrielle.

Do you have a favorite genre to write and to read?

I’ll read just about anything. Love the classics like Les Miserable. I read it every year, such an amazing collection of dynamic characters. I’m also very partial to romance and the happy ending. As for my writing life, I try to write every day, even if it’s just a few hundred words. I get my chores done, so I don’t feel guilty…lol…and then I sit down with my coffee or tea and dive in for a few hours. I love writing historic fiction/romance the most. Although I find writing suspense to be a challenge from the other stories I’ve written in the past.

At one time you were a Romantic Times Book reviewer, what did you find to be the hardest part of that job?

Honestly, being given a book I wouldn’t have naturally gravitated to. At the same time it did open my mind to different stories and genres. I also HATED not liking a book. I know what goes into the writing and heart and effort it takes to start and finish a book. This is why I always made sure I found something positive to say even as I gave a low rating.

If you could live in any time and any place, when and where would it be?

I love the Edwardian era, or Downton Abbey time frame, in England. I’ve always wanted to write a series during this time period but have constantly been told no one would read it. Well I’m working on something now so we shall see.  There is something about this time period that just calls to me.

What is coming next for you an author?

I’m currently finishing Her Highlander’s Kiss, which is book 3 in my Clan Ross series. After that I’m working on a three book series set prior to the outbreak of WWI. Three strong women, facing life’s impossible choices during a wartime situation. I’ve had an incredibly great time researching the series and I’m really excited to start writing it.

Do you have any sage advice for aspiring authors?

DON’T GIVE UP! If telling a story is your passion, something you want to do, don’t let anyone get in your way, make it happen. Only person standing in your way is you.

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! If it wasn’t for my readers, I wouldn’t be doing this. I love hearing how much they love my characters and my stories. I’m so glad I’ve been able to touch lives and give a little downtime to a stranger through my own fantasies.D

SOUL OF A WARRIOR RELEASE DATE 4/29/2015

For those who have been asking for print books for two of my time-travels,  you will have your chance on April 29th.  "Viking, Go Home" which was released back in 2010 and "Semper Fi Magick" in 2011 will be out in print form.  My awesome publishing house "The Wild Rose Press" has combined both these previously only ebooks into one book under the title of "Soul Of A Warrior."

Two warriors, one from the past, one from the present, are blindsided by magick and given a second chance at love.

 Viking, Go Home

Wulgar Thorrason's inability to control his desires earns him the ire of a faery princess. Sent forward in time to modern-day Michigan, he will have to learn the difference between lust and love. The petite beauty, Raven Harrison piques his interest, but how can he prove his feelings are more than lust when she scoffs at his advances and does n’ot believe his tale of being a time-traveling Viking?

 Semper Fi Magick

After a failed mission, Special Ops Marine Derek Harrison wants peace and quiet as he recuperates at his cousin's home. What he gets is a sex-on-heels woman with a snooty attitude. Not only does she remind him of his ex-fiancĂ©e, but she claims she's a faery princess of the Seelie Court. Now she's not only getting under his skin, she's getting into his head and delving into his nightmares. Maybe there is more to Catriona than he first realized.

Two couples battle time and destiny. Will they discover love before it's too late?

This book and "Tiernan's Punishment" for those who know who Tiernan is from the second book will be with me in Dallas at the RT Booklovers Convention. I will also have copies of "Immortal Justice."

And just so you know, I am diligently working on a fantasy trilogy that my editor believes will rock your socks off, or maybe snap your wands?  Anyway, glad to be back with you!

Hugs!

PLEASE MAKE WELCOME BEST SELLING AUTHOR AMANDA MCINTYRE

I have been a fan of Amanda's for several years. Not only is she an awesome author, but a fantastic friend.  I am so pleased she was able to stop by my blog for some insight into what she is like and what is coming up next when comes to her books!

Please tell us a bit about yourself.

My dad, as it happens was a regional rep for a large magazine publisher, so I grew up perusing such classics as Vampirella and Monsters, Inc. magazine. I love Alfred Hitchcock stories as well as Poe, so it’s a wonder that I don’t write more paranormal I suppose. My reading tastes, like my music has always been eclectic. But the one aspect of my writing that I attribute to my formative years is the delight I take in investigating the darker side of my storytelling, with lots of twists and turns added in;)

How did you fall into writing and becoming a published author ?

I think I’ve evolved into a storyteller. I am an artist and my dream was to be an cartoonist for Disney, but life happens (as it often does) and I like to think that I now paint pictures with words.

I was the last person in our house to think we needed a computer. (Ha!) I started out writing a weekly newspaper column on the importance of the Fine Arts in schools…from there, I found Lori Soard, then president of the online chapter of RWA (Romance Writers of America)and she was a wonderful tutor. I took some writing classes, and eventually did some reviewing of many genres before the writing bug bit me. That was about 14 years ago and the journey has been amazing.

Is writing something you’ve always wanted to do?

Not at all. I loved to read. I loved to express my storytelling by way of my sketches and painting.  I think having kids also gave me greater incentive to write. We surrounded our kids with books—fiction and non-fiction—when they were growing up and too the newspaper column opened my eyes more to what was out there.  Once I began to let my imagination run free, I began to pen stories as though painting a picture. I’m still a very visual writer.

Out of all the books you’ve written, do you have a favorite and why?

I don’t have a favorite. Each one is like a literary tattoo on my soul of where I was in my life at that time.

If you could go back and rewrite the ending for one of your books which book would it be?

None of them. LOL Is that weird?

Where do you get your plots and your characters from?

Everything…one line in a song, observing people in real life, a news clip…its often said authors are like sponges absorbing the emotions around them…so true.

I know you’re one busy lady, so tell me what you do when you have some downtime.

I love spending time with family and friends. Getting back to nature, walking, traveling the backroads of this country, being near the Great Lakes-(yes, any of them, I’m obsessed)

Do have any particular authors who are your favorites?

As far as reading, I have many. As far as who they are as people, there, too, I have many. I do make it a rule not to read in the genre that I’m currently writing and actually researching is one of my favorite reads!

Can you tell us what’s next on your schedule?

My current WIP is RENEGADE HEARTS, Book III in the Kinnison Legacy series. I also have another series in the wings and a possible few more books to spin-off from the Kinnison books. I will be releasing my time-travel duet—Tales of the Sweet Magnolia-Wild & Unruly, Book I and Fallen Angel, Book II—on March 20(first day of spring!) as a boxed set! There may yet be more tales from the Sweet Magnolia as well!

And is there any type of advice you could give aspiring authors?

There is tons of advice out there. Learn your craft. Nurture your imagination. Be kind. Be tenacious. Understand there will be hills and valleys, it’s about doing what you love.
And is there anything you would like to say to your fans? My heart is full of gratitude when I hear that someone has enjoyed one of my stories. My readers are my greatest inspiration!

Three men. One legacy.Meet the Kinnsions and the women who will tame them!
