First, please tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Utah and have been married more than half my
life, and have two sons. I hate to be idle so I have lots of hobbies.
How old were you when you first knew you wanted to write?
Young, elementary school, but what I wanted to write
changes a lot over the years. At one point I wrote poetry and even had the
opportunity to work on greeting cards.
You write a hot as heck erotic story, did you plan to
write erotic as your primary genre?
No, in fact I wrote mainstream romance for years. It
was Jan of 2006 when I first decided to publish one of the many novels I’d
written. Friends and family had read them but I’d never believed the stories
were good enough for publication. I went to my first small RWA chapter
conference in February, met and signed with an agent in March and had my first
contract in April of that same year. It wasn’t until I met an erotic romance
writer, who shared with me her style, that I was tempted to the naughty side of
writing.
What type of research do you have to do for this genre?
Um, well, not what some might think. I read several
erotic books to find where I want to fit in with the heat scale. At the time,
Ellora’s Cave was the place to be in erotic romance, so I wrote to the level
that they were publishing.
If you decided to write something different, what would
it be?
I don’t have any limitations now. If a story develops
for me, I write it. My current works in progress are a Contemporary BDSM and a
sexy mainstream Scottish Historical.
What is the most favorite of the books you have
written? Characters?
Super easy for this one. I am in love with Theron, the
master vampire from my Blood Slaves books. He’s in all three books. You’ll hate
him in Ice Man, begin to like him in Iron Man, and fall in love with him in
Dark Man. These stories are currently unavailable. They were with a publisher
but I have since had my rights to publication returned. So look for them to be
coming back out late this year.
What do you have coming down the road next?
Submitting to the Cowboy’s Command will be out later
this year, and hopefully the Scottish Historical will also be out later this
year. I have received rights back on about a dozen books, so those are getting
a new cover, a few tweaks and will be out soon!
If you could change anything about your work, what would
it be?
That I would have more time for writing. It seems when
the stories are running through my mind, I’m somewhere where I can’t write. And
when I have the time to sit down and write, the motivation and muse aren’t with
me. LoL. So I do what I can.
Do you feel like the erotic genre is here to stay? And if so, why?
Absolutely. And I think mainstream romance and fiction
are more accepting of hot sex and more edgy language in the book.
What do you read for pleasure?
Historical, New Adult, suspense. Doesn’t matter. Just
give me a good book. And I love to read cookbooks.
Do you have any advice you would like to give to
unpublished authors?
Writing is pleasure, publishing is work, so don’t
forget why you started this writing journey. It’s about the story and feeding
your author soul. Always write for yourself.
And is there anything you would like to say to your
readers?
Thank you. Thank you for the wonderful emails, the
reviews, and the support all these years.
